Sounds From The Sofa: Mass Intrusions, Donald Trump, Jeremy Corbyn, Fidel Castro, Curry Houses & More With Young Feminist Punks – The Delinquents

The term “Feminist Punks” might possibly seem like a contradiction to those unaware of what PUNK actually is all about. The average lost soul often generalises punk as debauchery without a cause…please say it isn’t so! With this movement in its 40th year, it is finally receiving the respect it deserves.

Granted at the time of Punk’s origins, the world was in quite a state, and the only way to make a point and break up an establishment that had us saying “yes sir and no sir” and living life under their candy coated values, was to stand up for yourself and fight back. Not so simple.

If you think about it, you really had to be an intelligent, brave individual to stand up to authority, and even more so to stand up for women in a society that is very condescending to them for shits and giggles and to stroke the male ego. Things have progressed somewhat in that respect, but society is in chaos again and The Delinquents are just not having it.

This year England is celebrating the origins of punk after 40 years of it still going strong, and this year it is going even stronger, the buzz is in the air and it has almost made punk a bit trendy…but these things happen and the originators of this music culture should be honoured.

They have inspired thousands of bands all over the world to also share their message and add their own influences to punk culture. I am not saying that bands inspired by other bands from the past aren’t creating original music, but their inspiration and influences have to come from somewhere right?

It’s All Free Love And A Lot Of Music Makin’ With SKINHORSE

Skinhorse band hereford England

Sitting by the inglenook fire with Skinhorse during The Underground Revolution’s gig at The Victory Pub & Brewery, headlined by Hereford Art College band Silverfield, felt pretty rock n roll.  It was a buzzing Friday evening, and the weather was on point, making for a very relaxed and fun interview, regardless of the live grunge tunes ruling the sound waves over our voices. A night of Punk and Space Rock April 21 2016 @The Booth Hall, Hereford

Get ready for another night of amazing bands belting out the power vocals….and one who doesn’t have vocals at all but has riffs and beats that pulse right through you…a night to remember from The Underground Revolution.  The Youth Within are on the Rebellion bill for 2016 which is no easy task to achieve, so you should definitely see them, they are playing first.  We don’t believe in head liners because all the bands are great and we don’t do hierarchy being revolutionaries and all.

Punk Allegiance at the Legion

pabloThere is the expression ‘of a sound mind’, which was a relevant theme when you entered the bottom floor of the The Royal British Legion in Ledbury last Saturday, where a local punk gig in aid of the charity Mind was being held.

The brainchild of local photographer and music producer Edoardo Mustafic aka Ed Headphones, a well loved eccentric around town, the gig featured 3 local punk bands (The Youth Within, Billy Whizz, Pablo Alto) that would end up shaking the walls of The Royal British Legion for a night few locals will forget, complementing his motto for the night ‘You’d be mad not to come’. Quite!

There were technical issues during the Billy Whizz performance, (down to dodgy lighting apparently), but soon in true Herefordshire style, onlookers jumped into lend a helping hand, and all was shortly sorted commencing the night’s shenanigans. Revellers were drawn to the sounds through the cobbled streets, as it was such a success that they had to turn punters away! All in a night’s gig. Continue reading “Punk Allegiance at the Legion”
